As we mentioned earlier also about the stages of production, there are many job profiles in Film Making. Talking particularly about the post production, the main job comes is of Editing in other words to complete movie on editing table. This editing can be Linear or Non- Linear. Whether it’s Films, Soaps, Serials Documentaries, Short Films, Panel Discussion, Music Video, Religious Songs etc…in every program format editing is must. The editing is the most important part of the post production. It is mainly done on computer by using different editing softwares.
The list of these softwares includes Velocity, Adobe Premier Pro, and Final Cut Pro (for MAC only) etc…. One needs to get a highly professional training to operate these softwares as they are very technical and complicated in functioning and can not be operated by a new user.
There is a recent wave of growth and advancement in the field of editing which is called SMOKE. It is the most new way and technology to edit. It is usually used in the Hollywood on a regular use but now in India we also have Smoke Machines. Although they are highly expensive but for better result one have to spend a good amount of money. In India some of the film production houses and established news channel have smoke machines.
